A Worcester Fitness Experience in Partnership with the City of Worcester

Seniors in and around Worcester, MA, have an exciting and innovative opportunity to keep their minds sharp and bodies active, now available at the city’s Senior Center. Located on 128 Providence Street, Worcester Fitness’s welcoming atmosphere provides a beautiful, state-of-the-art fitness center for senior citizens, family members, caregivers, elder service providers, and community members eager to promote healthy aging through meaningful activities.

The Worcester Senior Center’s mission is to enhance the well-being of the senior population by optimizing services on behalf of mature adults and their families. Registration is free and open to residents of Worcester and the surrounding communities.  

Senior Center Membership is required to join and participate in the Worcester Fitness programs and classes. Once you are a registered member of the Senior Center and receive your white senior center key tag, we welcome you to visit us in the fitness facility for a tour and to start the membership process. 

To join Worcester Fitness at the Senior Center, all potential members will go through the following process: 

  • Health History Interview and survey
  • A Physician Release Form may be required.
  • Membership Application
  • Orientation Appointment

Per Senior Center policies, ALL members must undergo the orientation with the trainer before using the facility independently. 

The orientation consists of a 30-45 minute session with a fitness professional to familiarize you with our equipment. At this Orientation, you will also be: 

  • Assigned a Red Key Tag
  • asked to read and sign our Usage Guidelines
  • Have your photo taken

Leah holds an M.Ed. in Health Fitness Mgmt from Springfield College. Leah joined Worcester Fitness in 2015. Leah is thrilled to be part of the wellness journey of participants and her passion is making connections with the senior center community.

Sam Kowaleski 2024

Sam Kowaleski

Sam, a W.I.T.S. Certified Personal Trainer for two years, leads small group training for teen athletes. He’s passionate about helping teens, adults, and seniors build strength and endurance, with a strong focus on the importance of nutrition and personal health.

Kathan Overton Horne

Kathan Overton Horne

Kathan is a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Senior Fitness Specialist with a passion for helping individuals—especially older adults—move with confidence and ease. She focuses on building strength, flexibility, mobility, and balance, and believes that fitness is not a destination, but a lifelong journey. When she’s not in the gym, Kathan enjoys cycling, hiking with her husband, and spending time with her adult children and grandchildren.

Chris Jones

Christopher has been a Board Certified Massage Therapist since 2007, specializing in rehabilitation and pain management. With certifications in pre-and perinatal massage and a master’s in Kinesiology, he is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist and AMTA member.

Deanna Filsinger

Deanna Filsinger

Deanna started her fitness career in 2014 at The Heron Studio, where yoga deepened her passion for wellness. A certified trainer since 2017, she holds additional certifications in Corrective Exercise and Nutrition Coaching, helping others build strength and confidence.
