I’ve been doing my best to get to yoga on a regular basis in order to calm my nerves and stay injury free. Yesterday’s Kundalini yoga sesh was major. Our instructor Delilah felt delightfully tuned into her inner sunshine. She has this modern meets old-world style that is completely on trend. Delilah navigates her iPad flawlessly as she queues up chants, sunshine songs, and a catchy savasana soundtrack that sounds strikingly akin to my new favorite band Boy. Meanwhile, her furry yoga mat, her fresh white yogi garb, and her encouraging reminders to smile whisked me away to another time. When we finished, Delilah served up some home made tea and stuck around to answer questions. She’s a keeper, guys!
Reward – This weekend’s reward is brought to you by Shrewsbury Street’s newest restaurant, Volturno. I treated myself to a Lemone pizza that was to die for: a Nepolatana style pie with basil, olive oil, smoke mozzarella, and sliced lemons. Volturno sought the same modern meets old-world feel that Delilah so effortlessly executes in her yoga practice. The owners have transformed an old Buick dealership, complete with two enormous brick ovens that they flew in from Italy. Servers wield iPads as they take your order, and the pizza chefs will jump at the chance to show you the oven temps using high tech inferred apparatuses. Volturno was not without its struggles – our waitress managed to dump a drink in my lap – but the food speaks for itself. The reward was definitely worth the workout!
